Parking at Pendle Hill Train Station
Parking at Pendle Hill Train Station is at a premium. There are too many cars, and too few car parking spaces.
Workers who arrive at the station later in the morning either miss out on a spot (on the south side) or have to park far away from the station (inventing spaces in the grass on the north side) and walk all the way back to the entrance of the station. Upon returning from work, these same people walk back to their car past all the now empty prime car parking spaces.
To deal with this shortage, I would suggest that the owners of the car parking spaces should charge a fee for the prime car parking spaces. The owners could charge say $1 or $2 per day for the first 5 or 10 most prime spaces, and then adjust the price or number of spaces depending on the response of drivers.
This would free up premium spaces for late starters, people in a rush, or people wanting a greater feeling of security through a shorter walk to their car at night. Perhaps the money could go towards constructing more parking spaces, or a more beautiful garden to view on the long walk between the station and the car.
