Apple II Forever
Apple II Forever is your classic 1980s power ballad. Starting soft with piano and an accoustic guitar, the song builds up to a rock beat with a synthesised techno sounding keyboard and electric guitar. Through the song there’s an electric guitar solo, drum solo, and long musical rest. This is a 1980s techno love ballad from the computer geek to the Apple II. I’m officially hooked!
The video on YouTube is great as well. There is some great historical footage here. In one scene we see the two Steves turning over some dirt for a new building. Woz looks like he is doing the work while Jobs is there for the show. I love Steve Jobs! There is some definite 1980s style in these pictures.
The video clip was first played on 24 April 1984 in San Francisco’s Moscone Center at the introduction of the Apple IIc. In Apple Confidential 2.0, Owen Linzmayer notes,
During the introduction, Jobs proudly announced the fact that Apple had sold 50,000 Macintoshes for $2,495 each since its introduction three months earlier. That day alone Apple took orders for more than 52,000 Apple IIc systems costing $1,295 each!
I came across this song on the home page for Virtual II, an Apple II emulator for Mac OS X. I also found the full version of the song, at a website I can no longer find. But I know its out there somewhere.

Just listened to it again. It must be Bonnie Tyler (of ‘Total Eclipse of the Heart’ fame). I don’t know how you could confirm, perhaps a quick call to Steve Jobs will do the trick.
