Apple Reports June Quarter 2006 Results

Apple Computer has reported financial results for the June 2006 quarter. According to the press release (19 July 2006), Apple:

posted revenue of $4.37 billion and a net quarterly profit of $472 million … . These results compare to revenue of $3.52 billion and a net profit of $320 million … in the year-ago quarter.

shipped 1,327,000 Macintosh® computers and 8,111,000 iPods during the quarter, representing 12 percent growth in Macs and 32 percent growth in iPods over the year-ago quarter.

From the conference call (QuickTime webcast or Earnings Podcast at Apple Investor Relations) I heard:

  • Apple’s notebook US retail sales market share rose from 6 per cent in January, to 12 per cent in June.
  • the iPod had a 75 per cent market share in the USA.
  • the iTunes Music Store served 85 per cent of the US market.

I think these results somehow had something to do with my “Mac Vs PC” blog.
