The Wireless Network
The wireless network is up and running, and a whole new world of possibilities is opening up (well maybe not a whole new world). I am using a D-Link DI-524UP Wireless Router, purchased from Beecom for a great price of $115. I purchased this instead of the Apple Airport Extreme base station, priced at around $299.
While setting this up, I was aware of the unique Apple love lacking in the D-Link product. The web-based interface used to interact with the router is easily accessible, but it contains too much jargon. The instruction book is relatively clear, but it took me a while to understand it. I am sure the Apple product would be much easier. Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up. D-Link has the knowledge, but Apple delivers the love. Nevertheless, I am happy with the purchase, and am enjoying surfing the internet throughout the house.
The router has increased the value of my dot Mac account, as I am able to synchronise my address book, calendar and Safari bookmarks across multiple Macintosh computers.
The router also includes a print server. While my current printer does not allow this feature; the next printer will.

I like how you are being open to non mac products while also keeping it real and maintaining the love factor. Computers should give some love instead of a blue screen.
I think it’s also time you get your own laptop instead of stealing mum’s.
