NIV Audio Bible

I bought the dramatised Bible in the New International Version (NIV) from Koorong on Saturday. I am using this as an easy way to get into some of the Old Testament books that I find are a bit difficult to read. Being an mp3 CD, the entire Bible can fit on only six CDs for the bargain price of $69.95. I started with disc 4, containing Jeremiah to Malachi.

The only books on this CD I hadn’t got into before was Jeremiah, Lamentations, Ezekiel and Hosea. After listening, I have a fairly good idea of what’s in them, and I can see there is more to learn. The main take home message seems to be: repent!

I like the dramatised version. The readers are very professional, and there are multiple voices where different people speak the different characters in the book. This helps me know who is saying what. However, I didn’t think God would have the particular type of American accent portrayed. It sounds like a young advertising professional rather than a wise and loving Ancient of Days.
