First Style Upgrade Complete
The new style is Serene by Vladimir Agafonkin. My previous theme was Simple Neutral, which I was really coming to appreciate with my various tweaks. However the new theme offers some things that pulled me over: an archive for older content, and the use of article excerpts on the home page (rather than the entire article). It also looks pretty good.
The upgrade was fairly painless. There was a bit of investigative tweaking for the About and Archive pages, as well as the RSS feed links. If you are using TextEdit with Mac OS X, be sure to open the preferences and check Ignore rich text commands in HTML files. This corrected my reading of the head.txt form.
I appreciate the way Serene reuses code in the forms rather than the pages. All up it is quite an attractive and functional theme with relatively little code. I will be making further enhancements such as replacing the standard header photo with my own masterpiece. Perhaps there is also some way to add a theme for print media in addition to the screen presentation.

The picture in the header looks strangely familier.
