Apple Reports June Quarter 2005 Results

Apple Computer has reported the highest revenue and earnings in Apple’s history. From the press release (13 July 2005):

Apple posted a net quarterly profit of $320 million … and revenue of $3.52 billion. These results compare to a net profit of $61 million … and revenue of $2.01 billion in the year-ago quarter, and represent revenue growth of 75 percent and net profit growth of 425 percent.

Apple shipped 1,182,000 Macintosh® units and 6,155,000 iPods during the quarter, representing 35 percent growth in Macs and 616 percent growth in iPods over the year-ago quarter.

From the conference call I heard:

  • Mac unit shipment growth was about 3 times higher than the most recently forecast market rate of growth forecast for the June quarter.
  • the iPod has around a 75 percent market share, where the nearest competitor has less than 5 percent market share.
  • the iTunes Music Store has a market share of over 80 percent.

Hey Danny! Your next entry needs to be a 2005 taxes survival guide – I know a lot of people who could use the information (myself included)!

We’re going to miss you and your accounting humour at church dude :(
